100 Mod Masterpieces Vol. 4 (Compiled by 6T's Soul Searcher)

Pues, con esta cuarta parte acabamos esta serie dedicada a la música "Mod", que realmente me ha sorprendido por la aceptación que ha tenido, y en parte es el resultado de la magnífica selección que ha realizado e amigo "6T's Soul Searcher", auténtico especialista en el tema. He de decir con orgullo, que tengo un buen puñado de amigos con muchos con conocimientos musicales, y gracias a ellos se han publicado aquí cosas realmente buenas, que seguramente realizadas por mi habrían tenido menos calidads.

Pues este cuarto volumen, y como no puede ser de otra forma sigue la tónica de los anteriores, con bandas y artistas algunos bien conocidos y otros que no había escuchado en mi vida. Si, ya se que faltan algunos nombres importantes, pero esta, como todas las colaboraciones que se publican aquí, son visiones muy personales de cada autor, en las que siempre les he dado total libertad.

Bueno, no se si al fin al nos ha quedado claro el concepto de "Mod", pues como todos los estilos tiene multitud de variantes e incluso se mezclan con otros cercanos, cosa que a mi personalmente me trae sin cuidado, pues realmente lao importante es la música.

Y para acabar esta serie, y como es habitual, os dejo con el último de los escritos del autor y su paseo por el mundillo "mod":

"The True Mod Was Half Real And Half Mith…"

The itinerary of our ideal Mod went like this.Monday evening The Scene Club,Tuesday local dance,wednesday La Discotheque,Thursday The Scene again or maybe The Marquee or The Lyceum. Friday The Scene or La Discoteque,Saturday night to the Flamingo and Allnighter and then go to some obscure records shop in Hampstead or Brixton...

Kids collected records quite obsessively. Lots of mods were almost as passionate about aquiring good records as they were about aquiring clothes. The more obscure the better because Mods hated commercialism.

But in 63 their cover was blown. Blame The Beatles!!!! Their enormous success had made the young so hip that everyone wanted their money.

They were the new market to exploit. TV was no exception and thus, in'63 Young Britain sat down on a Friday night and watched a new music show called Ready Steady Go !  that nationalised Mod.

The spotlight was too intense . It diluted the essence of the scene.

Mod had become a charade played out on the cover of the national papers and national attetion is the Achille's heel of a true stylists.
